The truth about depression

From the Pocono Record:

The truth about depression
The isolation from friends and the constant feelings of hopelessness prevail. It is not long before the feelings of being abandoned and worthless become Truth with a capital ‘T’ and God’s promises of never leaving or forsaking you fade into falsehood. Thus, God’s Truth as mentioned in his Word is replaced by the “truth” of our feelings. In other words, we exchange the Truth for a lie.

Overcoming depression is a battle that must be fought on three fronts: the body, the mind and the heart. We cannot overlook the physical component of depression. Those who suffer from depression constantly feel fatigued, lacking strength, their sleep patterns are altered, and chemical and hormonal imbalances may be present. Daily routines of exercising and forcing oneself to get out of bed, out of the house, and outside is essential in battling depression. At times, medication may be necessary as a help, but not as a cure.
