Letters From Dad

By bowden mcelroy | Nov 3, 2005

Greg Vaughn’s Letters From Dad is a book, a product line, and a great idea. Greg’s story is that after his father died he was both saddened and angry that he had nothing tangible from his dad saying, “I love you”.

Out of that experience came an idea for leaving each of his children a letter of “the things (he had) always wanted to say but just didn’t know how.” Greg suggests a thoughtful letter, blessing the ones we love, given with a memory box for them to keep future letters and mementos.

Having just received more bills from the two universities I sometimes think I’m single-handedly supporting, I don’t think I will buy the book, box, and program from Greg.

But I do think it’s a terrific idea that I will put to use. I’ll start writing those letters soon. Right after I write – and bless – the bursar’s offices of the colleges my two oldest attend.
