“I want (my spouse) to stay for the right reasons; not just because of the children.”
I hear the above statement – or one close to it – on a regular basis. People are attempting to say marriage is not worth while unless there is romantic love. Responsibility, parental obligation, or a motivation of doing the right thing are all swept aside as unworthy reasons for working out marital problems.
Romance – passion – is viewed as something static that exists apart from our thoughts and behavior. The idea that passion comes and goes, or that we can re-introduce passion into our marriage, is a completely foreign thought.
Who knew an entertainment icon would be the one to speak to his generation about marriage and parenting:
“I was going to split up with my wife – my wife wasn’t going to split up with me,” (Snoop Dogg) said.
“You know, I was caught up with Hollywood, and the girls and the night life. I thought I was the man and I was willing to give up what I had at home for that, until I realized that what I had at home was irreplaceable, so I gave that up to go back home.
I just don’t want another man raising my kids. That was the main goal. I had kids with my wife because I wanted to be with my wife. And those three babies are all wanted, and I wanted to be with them.”

It figures. I don’t know what is scarier, that he’s right or that he is the one who said it.
